The Carriage House

NOSTALGIC CLASSICS

🍽️ Fort Worth Foodies Are Reminiscing About This Camp Bowie Legend

Y'all, the nostalgia is flowing in the Fort Worth Foodies group this week! Everyone's sharing their fondest memories of The Carriage House, that elegant Camp Bowie institution. Jan Shaffer dropped some fascinating trivia: "In 1950, Mac was the butcher at Roy Pope grocery. In two years my parents opened the Italian Inn and soon after Mac opened the Carriage House." Missing those famous lamb chops with mint jelly? Jan Latter mentioned you can still get Mac's salad at Michael's on 7th Street!

💰 Price range $$$ (Fine dining prices that were "worth every penny")

Rating Universally beloved with multiple people calling it "the best"

🏘️ Neighborhood Camp Bowie

📍 Location 5136 Camp Bowie Blvd, Fort Worth (historical location)

💡 Good to know While The Carriage House is sadly gone, try Mac's salad at Michael's for a taste of nostalgia. And raise a Brandy Ice (the most mentioned drink in comments!) in honor of "Sweet Mr. Mac" and the place where doggy bags came lined in foil.

COFFEE SHOPS

☕ Fort Worth's Coffee Scene Has Serious Buzz – Here's Where Locals Are Sipping

The Fort Worth Foodies group is OBSESSED with coffee shops lately! One coffee enthusiast has been trying a new spot weekly and the comments absolutely exploded. Casa Azul in the Stockyards got major love for their churro latte (🔥🔥🔥 according to the comments). Avoca Coffee's Magnolia location is apparently THE spot for getting work done. And don't sleep on Cherry Coffee Shop - their Very Cherry latte has people making special trips across town. My personal shock? One dedicated coffee couple has visited over 200 different coffee shops in DFW - talk about relationship goals!

For all my coffee lovers, here are a few of my best finds this week:
☕ Cold brew lovers, stop dropping $7 a day on iced coffees and snag this genius patented cold brew maker that'll pay for itself faster than you can say "oat milk please."

🥤 These insanely sturdy tumblers with included straws and lids are apparently breaking small business Etsy shops right now – perfect for showing off your custom designs or just keeping your drink cold for approximately forever.

Quick finds

🥤 PepsiCo just dropped a cool $1.65 billion to snag Poppi, that trendy prebiotic soda all over your TikTok feed. (Fast Company)

🛍️ Treasure hunters, grab your comfy shoes because Texas is hiding some seriously epic flea markets – from massive Canton to quirky Wimberley where vintage finds and local art collide. (Only in Your State)

🍽️ Y'all, there's a secret door in Houston leading to an underground speakeasy restaurant called Patton's where 1920s vibes meet amazing steaks! (Only in Your State)

🍷 The Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival is bringing "Tacos + Tequila" and "Burgers, Brews + Blues" to town April 2-5... and my taste buds are already doing a happy dance. (Fort Worth Magazine)

EVENTS

🌼 Mayfest 2025 Returns to Trinity Park with Art, Music, and Family Fun

Y'all, one of Fort Worth's most beloved spring traditions is BACK! Mayfest hits Trinity Park May 1-4, 2025, and with 12,500+ people already marked as interested, it's gonna be HUGE. This four-day festival transforms the park into the ultimate artsy playground with local makers, live music, and food vendors galore. Whether you're shopping for unique handcrafted goodies, catching live performances, or just soaking in those perfect spring vibes with a funnel cake in hand, Mayfest is peak Fort Worth springtime energy. Bonus: bring the kiddos for the interactive children's area that'll wear them out nicely (you're welcome).

SEAFOOD

🐟 Hooked on Fish & Chips? Fort Worth Foodies Are Reeling Over These Spots

When it comes to finding crispy, golden fish & chips in Fort Worth, our foodie community isn't messing around! Cat City Grill on Magnolia Avenue gets major props for their housemade tartar sauce that has folks practically licking the plate clean. For the authentic British experience (accents included!), locals swear by From Across The Pond, where the beer-battered cod tastes like a direct import from London. And when you want your fish & chips with a view, Flying Fish near Trinity River delivers fresh seafood without any fussy presentation – just pure fried goodness. Pro tip from the comments: call ahead on Fridays during Lent unless you enjoy disappointment – these babies sell out FAST.
